| Water supply and its use is a critical national issue, particularly in the South Island. We secured resource consent for the North Otago Irrigation Company to take and use 8 cumecs of water through a pumped and piped spray irrigation system to irrigate 20,000 hectares of land in North Otago. We also secured consent for the Benmore Irrigation Company to take and use 4 cumecs of water for the irrigation of 4,000 hectares of land in the Mackenzie Basin. We are currently working with Foveran Deer Park in the Hakataramea Valley, to help support its application for consent to draw water from the Hakataramea River to create a dam allowing irrigation of its extensive deer farm. |
